MINSK (
BelTA) – A new provision proposed for the Labor Code would grant pregnant women time off from work for mandatory medical exams. Anzhelika Kurchak, a member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, told about the legislative initiative on the air of the RTR-Belarus TV channel, BelTA has learned.
The MP emphasized that the legislative initiative is driven by real-life experiences. For instance, during one of her meetings, she was approached by a man who shared that his pregnant wife was not allowed to take time off from work to undergo medical examinations.
“Currently, labor laws do not grant time off from work for mandatory medical exams. We have already done some preliminary work on this issue within our specialized committees. I have also discussed this matter with the Healthcare Ministry. Hopefully, once this bill comes to the floor, I will push for introducing such an amendment to our Labor Code,” Anzhelika Kurchak stated.
