Around 260 product names competing for Belarus’ State Quality Mark

BelTA) – The campaign to award the State Quality Mark based on the results of 2026 has reached the home stretch, Chairwoman of the State Committee for Standardization of Belarus (Gosstandart) Yelena Morgunova told the media during a press tour to promote Belarusian goods, using enterprises of Mogilev Oblast as an example, at Bobruiskagromash Holding Management Company, BelTA has learned.
Around 260 product names from 150 enterprises across the country are competing for the prestigious award. In the structure of applications, 44 % are food products, 33 % are industrial and technical products, and another 23 % are consumer goods. According to Yelena Morgunova, the package of documents is already with the Council of Ministers, and the commission will soon determine the list of 2026 laureates.
Yelena Morgunova noted that the assessment of candidates is based on five key criteria: safety, technological effectiveness, innovativeness, environmental friendliness and aesthetics. Each parameter is the responsibility of a relevant agency. Safety is checked by Gosstandart, environmental friendliness by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, and innovativeness by the State Committee on Science and Technology. Technological effectiveness is assessed by the ministries, while aesthetics is determined by consumers themselves. The public vote ended on 26 July, with 42,500 people expressing their preferences, and each participant could vote for only one product.
“The State Quality Mark is awarded for two years. During this period, an enterprise may enjoy all the benefits and preferences set out in the regulation on the State Quality Mark, apply it to its products and labelling, and display it at exhibitions and in retail chains,” Yelena Morgunova said.
The status of laureate imposes increased responsibility. The attestation commission may apply a risk-based approach and carry out an unscheduled inspection of an enterprise in order to assess compliance with production standards and the maintenance of the declared level of safety. Upon expiry of the term, a manufacturer wishing to confirm the status must go through the procedure again and demonstrate an improvement in the process of at least 30 %.
The selection of candidates is carried out strictly according to a points system. A product can score a maximum of 500 points - 100 for each criterion. Within each group, ranking takes place, and the product with the highest number of points wins.
Yelena Morgunova recommended that manufacturers carefully study the instructions of the relevant agencies before submitting an application. All requirements are publicly available on the websites of state bodies, which allows enterprises to assess their capabilities in advance and avoid mistakes that most often become an obstacle on the path to obtaining the State Quality Mark.
