Belarus enhances state variety testing system

BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin has signed the resolution of the Council of Ministers to update the approaches to state crop variety testing, the government’s press service told BelTA.
The document approves updated regulations on state crop variety testing, the adding and removing of varieties from the state register, and the overall management of the database.
The decree also amends the rules for issuing permits to use or sell crop seeds with a sowing quality indicator (germination rate) of up to 3% below the established requirements.
The administrative procedure for adding crop varieties to the state register has been excluded from the unified list of administrative procedures for business entities.
“This will streamline the testing timeframe without compromising the quality or comprehensiveness of the trials,” the press service stated.
