Sberbank encouraged to expand its activities on Belarusian market

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko encouraged Sberbank to expand its activities on Belarusian market. The head of state made the statement as he met with President and Chairman of the Board of PAO Sberbank German Gref on 13 June, BelTA has learned.

“It is always a pleasure to meet with you, and you know it,” Alexander Lukashenko said addressing German Gref. “I am ready to discuss any issues which exist in our cooperation today. Moreover, you actively work in our economy, Russia's Sberbank is an active participant on our market. I think that it is needed to expand the field of activities, and we will gradually do it.”

German Gref, in turn, thanked the head of state for the meeting and constructive attitude. “Sberbank is a very active market participant in Belarus. During all these years, since 2014, we have been increasing our portfolio in complicated times. The situation is much more stable now. I believe that this year will be much better that 2015 and 2016. We expect to start getting sustainable profits the next year. On the whole, the situation is under control,” he said.
