Belarus president wants performance reports from all law enforcement agencies

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko plans to listen to the reports on the performance of law enforcement agencies in 2017. He made the statement as he heard out a report of Chairman of the Investigation Committee Ivan Noskevich on 18 December, BelTA has learned.

“I plan to listen to the reports of all law enforcement bodies. We will carry out very serious inspections at a number of law enforcement agencies depending on the results of the year, including the Defense Ministry,” the head of state said.

The president asked about the situation at the Investigation Committee, especially in connection with its optimization. “What is the progress, have you finished the stage of optimization that we have discussed?” Alexander Lukashenko said.

He recalled that the agency was founded several years ago, and asked Ivan Noskevich about his personal impressions of work there in connection with the recent reform.

The participants of the meeting also discussed much publicized criminal cases that are under control of the president. “What is the progress in investigation? Have you faced any challenges in the process of investigation? What is the crime situation in the country in general?” the head of state wondered."

Ivan Noskevich informed the president about the performance of the Investigation Committee in 2017, topical issues and development prospects, international cooperation. “This year the work load at the Investigation Committee has reduced by about 7-7.5% in comparison with the previous year. And this process reflects the general decrease in the number of crimes in the same period,” he said. “There is direct dependence. We have fewer crime incident reports and open fewer criminal cases."
