Belarus' government, employers, trade unions sign General Agreement for 2016-2018

MINSK (BelTA) – The Government of Belarus, the national associations of employers and trade unions signed the General Agreement for 2016-2018 on 16 December, BelTA informs.

The signing ceremony took place at the meeting of the National Council on Labor and Social Matters in the headquarters of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus. The document was signed by Vice Premier Vladimir Semashko on the government's behalf, Anatoly Kharlap, the Chairman of the National Association of Industrial Companies of Belarus, and Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus Mikhail Orda.

“All the Government's commitments to wage increase, employment, social benefits, healthcare and education development are contained in the document we have signed today,” said Vladimir Semashko.

In turn, Mikhail Orda added that the agreement covers almost the entire range of labor and social issues.

In his words, it is crucial to undertake immediate measures to provide social support to people out of work. “We have agreed to work out a mechanism to monitor the implementation of the adopted decisions,” said the Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus
