Lukashenko wishes Happy New Year to Minsk asylum children

MINSK, 28 December (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko visited children's home No. 2 in Minsk on 28 December. The head of state and his son Nikolai wished Happy New Year to the children and presented New Year gifts to them, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko was made familiar with the conditions the children live in and talked to them. The children invited the guests for a cup of tea. Alexander Lukashenko talked to the kids, was interested in how hard they study and what they like. These children are very talented, they go in for sports, learn sewing, knitting skills, cooking, and various handcrafts.

Not all the residents of the children’s home were present at the meeting with the President because many of them are spending the New Year celebration days in Italy for recreation purposes. Alexander Lukashenko was interested in recreation conditions and in whether the kids were satisfied with this recreation. The teachers and the children said that they had no problems with recreation.

The President said that the recreation of Belarusian children in Italy had been discussed during the visit to Vatican and the meeting with the Pope. Alexander Lukashenko said that guarantees of children’s safety were important. During the meeting with the Pope Alexander Lukashenko received these guarantees.

On 28 December in addition to talking to Alexander Lukashenko the residents of children's home No. 2 viewed a magnificent performance together with the President. The performance was staged by artists of the Belarusian State Circus. All the kids were gifted presents, sweets, and cakes. In turn, the children presented their handmade gifts to the President and his son Nikolai.
