Brestoblgaz starts exporting peat products to Czechia

MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) – Brestoblgaz has started supplying pellets and products from peat to the Czech company Rimex group, s.r.o., BelTA learnt from the company Beltopgaz.

In line with the contract, Brestoblgaz shipped a pilot batch of 80 tonnes of products to Rimex group in December. At present, the Czech company is studying demand for the products. Rimex group has plans to sell Belarusian pellets and products from peat not only in Czechia, but also outside the country. Peat briquettes are supplied in 10kg packages for home use.

Besides, the Czech company would like to supply wood crushing machines to Belarus. These machines can be used to produce chip wood from wood waste left after peat extraction. Rimex group suggests shipping produced chip wood to Czechia.

The parties are considering joint production of biofuel in Belarus. In early January the company’s representatives are set to come to Belarus to discuss the details of cooperation.

The initiative was put forward in Prague during the fourth session of the joint working group for energy cooperation which is part of the Belarus-Czechia intergovernmental commission for economic, industrial and sci-tech cooperation.

The participants of the session discussed development plans and ways to step up cooperation. The Belarusian peat producer Glinka (affiliated with Beltopgaz) will continue cooperating with Czechia’s Raselina a.s. which is going to invest in a project to produce peat-based foundations for agriculture in 2012.

The joint venture Bezimr established in 2010 by the Beloozersky electromechanical plant (Belarus) and Modranska potrubni,a.s. will expand production of parts to high-pressure pipelines. The offering range of pipelines and their component parts will be increased. These products are in great demand in Belarus.

During the Prague session the parties considered participation of Czech companies in the upgrade of power engineering facilities in Belarus, construction of CNZ gas stations and provision of works and services in nuclear energy and medicine.

The state-run company Beltopgaz was founded in 1958. It runs a well-developed network of gas distribution, peat extraction and peat processing enterprises, research and design institutions, civil engineering divisions, enterprises specializing in manufacturing gas equipment, means to automate technological processes and spare parts. The company employs over 30,000 people.
