CIS heads of government sign cooperation agreements

BISHKEK ( BelTA) – A number of documents on cooperation were signed following a meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council in Bishkek on 26 October, BelTA has learned.

The participants of the Heads of Government Council meeting exchanged views, considered all the issues on the agenda and adopted 20 documents. “These documents regulate cooperation of the CIS countries for the coming years in economic, humanitarian and innovations areas,” CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev said.

The heads of government approved the CIS interstate program of cooperation of geodesy, cartography, spatial data, geoinformation technologies, remote sensing of the Earth, cadastral registration and registration of rights to real estate for the period until 2026.

The Heads of Government Council also approved the concept of digital transformation of the fuel and energy sectors of the CIS member states and the relevant action plan for its implementation, the interstate target program Reclamation of the Territories of the States Affected by Uranium Mining Operations, a set of measures for the implementation of the agreement on cooperation in the mining and metallurgical industry, the regulations on technological platforms within the framework of the Interstate Program of Innovative Cooperation for the period until 2030.

The participants of the meeting signed the plan of measures to get ready for the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in the CIS in 2025. According to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee, the document envisages a number of events to mark significant events and memorable military dates, scientific and informational and educational activities aimed at preserving the truth about the war, exposing attempts to falsify the events and results of the war, countering fascism and neo-Nazism, as well as educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism and love for the Fatherland.

Another plan approved by the CIS Heads of Government Council was to organize the Year of Volunteer Movement in the CIS in 2024. The document consists of nine sections and includes more than 100 international events, such as forums, meetings and conferences with the participation of representatives of different countries.

The meeting also adopted the regulations on the CIS Championship (Cup). “Such competitions will help expand the opportunities of the CIS member states to train sports reserve and high-class athletes by improving their competitive activity, will contribute to improving their sports skills and gaining experience in international sports competitions, as well as will have a positive impact on the development of various sports in the CIS countries,” the press service of the CIS Executive Committee said.

The CIS Heads of Government Council considered a large block of financial issues. They concern the financing of further development of the united air defense system of the CIS states, the execution of the unified budget of the CIS bodies, the financing of measures to implement the interstate program to improve the quality of life of war veterans – participants of local conflicts and members of their families, the financing of measures to continue the search for servicemen missing in action during the war in Afghanistan, the search for burial sites, exhumation, identification of remains and their reburial in the homeland.
