Lukashenko meets with Rahmon in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has met with Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon during his working trip to Dushanbe, BelTA has learned.

The meeting of the two heads of state took place shortly after Aleksandr Lukashenko's arrival in Dushanbe. The two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation, the military and political situation in the region and the forthcoming summits of the CSTO and the SCO in the capital of Tajikistan.

Aleksandr Lukashenko also held a meeting with Tajikistan Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda who welcomed the Belarusian head of state at the airport.

As BelTA reported earlier, the capital of Tajikistan is set to host a session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and a meeting of the Heads of State Council of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on 15–17 September. The Belarusian head of state is expected to hold a number of bilateral meetings with his foreign counterparts.
