Lukashenko visits Belgips Plant

MINSK DISTRICT (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko is on a visit to Belgips Plant, BelTA has learned.

The head of state will be briefed on the progress made in the implementation of his instructions to step up the production of building materials in Belarus and also on the investment projects in the sector. Aleksandr Lukashenko will get familiar with the company and its production of gypsum building materials.

The company was founded in 1948. Today, it is Belarus' only producer of gypsum building materials.

Belgips specializes in several types of products: gypsum plasterboard, dry building mixes, gypsum blocks and chemical admixtures.

Several years ago a decision was taken to relocate the plant from the center of Minsk outside the city. In spring 2019 the company resumed its production in the agro-town of Gatovo. Taking part in the investment project was Russia's gypsum producer Volma. KNAUF International GmbH, founded in Germany, was a co-investor.

The abovementioned producers are Belgips' main shareholders. The Russian Corporation holds more than 49.99% of shares, while the German company is a holder of 50%. The rest of shares (some 0.0028%) is distributed among individuals.
