President approved the procedure concerning treatment of waste and packaging
Edict of the President of the Republic of Belarus of 17 January 2020 No. 16 “On improving the treatment of products waste and packaging” provides for measures aimed at reducing waste disposal volumes and preventing their harmful impact on environment, as well as at increasing the level of involvement of secondary material resources in the economic turnover, the National Legal Internet Portal of the Republic of Belarus informs.
According to the Edict, the manufacturers and suppliers are required to ensure the collection, disposal and use of products waste and packaging. The list of such products and packaging shall be approved by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus. The Edict also determines cases and conditions for the release of manufacturers and suppliers from the obligation to ensure the collection of waste.
The Edict was officially published in Russian on the National Legal Internet Portal of the Republic of Belarus on 21 January 2020, and its main provisions enter into force from 1 July 2020.
