Application sphere of the Interbank Identification System to expand
The Edict of the President of the Republic of Belarus of 18 April 2019 No. 148 “On digital banking technologies” envisages expanding the application sphere of the Interbank Identification System (IIS) in order to increase the availability of banking and financial services, the National Legal Internet Portal of the Republic of Belarus informs.
The MAI has been operating in Belarus since October 1, 2016 and allows customers, once having passed the identification procedure in one of the banks, to get access to services of other banks.
According to the Edict, access to the information about customers stored in the IIS, in addition to banks, will also be granted to insurance organizations, professional participants of the securities market, leasing and microfinance organizations, forex companies, etc.
The Edict was officially published in Russian on the National Legal Internet Portal of the Republic of Belarus on 20 April 2019, and its main provisions enter into force in six months after its official publication.
