Distinguished Belarusians honored with state awards

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko presented state awards to representatives of various professions on 21 December, BelTA informs.

“There are people's stories behind every title, order, medal. These are stories of creative, talented, hardworking people committed to their vocation and country. Such people have gathered together in this hall today. We see representatives of various professions and rankings here. These people have come from all over Belarus,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

According to the president, all of them are united by the common aspiration to make our country more beautiful, rich and successful, protect peace and enhance Belarus' sovereignty. “You have made the history of the departing year, the history of the country thanks to your achievements, victories and good deeds. You have glorified your names and native places,” the head of state said.

Alexander Lukashenko remarked that just yesterday only family members and friends of the awardees were proud of them. And today almost all people living in Belarus will see them, millions of compatriots will learn about them, read about them in newspapers tomorrow. “For them your success is an example of true patriotism which is displayed in concrete deeds and actions,” the president stressed.

Orders, medals and honorary titles were conferred on representatives of various professions in recognition of the many-year productive work, professional excellence, courage and resolution in risky situations, a big personal contribution to the development of journalism, the manufacturing, agricultural and construction industries, significant achievements in the energy sector, science, healthcare and social security, education, culture and sport.

Among the awardees are the best representatives of the real production sector, the head of state said. They come from enterprises manufacturing high-quality products and making a contribution to the restoration of rural areas and partaking in charity events. The Order of Fatherland 3rd Class was conferred on Director General of ZAO Vitex Viktor Tereshchenko. The Order of Honor - on Director General of Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant Igor Letov.

The Honored Worker of the Manufacturing Sector titles were bestowed upon Director General of OAO Mostovdrev Sergei Ososov, Deputy Director for Manufacturing of OAO Naftan Vladislav Nikolayev, chief engineer of the Orsha-based instrument-making plant Krasny Borets Alexander Shatsky. A group of workers received honorary titles for their achievements in agriculture, construction, architecture, energy sector.

“We are proud of the outstanding achievements of our scientists, doctors, teachers and researchers. We are proud of the results of important efforts in social security. We hail creative achievements of Belarusian figures of culture and art, good performances and scintillating victories of Belarusian athletes,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The president presented Order of Fatherland 3rd Class to Director of the Powder Metallurgy Institute Alexander Ilyushchenko and Rector of the Belarusian State Economic University Vladimir Shimov. The Order of Honor was conferred on Medical Director of the Republican Clinical Medical Center of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate Irina Abelskaya, Director of Vitebsk gymnasium No. 8 Raisa Grabovskaya. The Order of Francysk Skaryna was bestowed upon Chair of Commercial Activities on the Domestic and Foreign Markets of the Belarusian State Economic University Gennady Korolenok and Chairperson of the Vitebsk Oblast Department of the Belarusian Union of Writers Tamara Gusachenko.

The People's Artist of Belarus title was bestowed upon chief stage performer of the Yanka Kupala National Academic Theater Zoya Belokhvostik. The president also gave honorary titles to artists, figures of culture and art, scientists, workers of education and social security, athletes and coaches.

Alexander Lukashenko also extended the warmest greetings to workers of BelTA News Agency as the organization marks the centennial anniversary on 23 December. “For 100 years BelTA has been fulfilling an important mission to record and preserve the history of our country. This is another good reason to award our journalists,” the president said.

Senior editor of the News Department of the BelTA News Agency Alina Shrubok was decorated with the Order of Honor. Deputy Director General - Head of the External Communications Center of BelTA Marta Chvei received the Medal for Labor Merits.

“On this special day we traditionally honor our law enforcement who protect our Fatherland, maintain peace and security in pour country. I am proud to present order for their courage,” the Belarusian leader said.

The president gave the Order for Personal Courage to Nikolai Mochansky, the head of the Minsk aeroclub named after two-time Hero of the Soviet Union S. Gritsevets, who landed a burning helicopter. The Order of Honor was conferred on Chairman of the Chairman of the Belarusian organization of the officers of engineering troops Pavel Gutenko.

“I am convinced that these awards will inspire you to reach new heights, open new prospects for professional growth and new opportunities for creative fulfillment,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed. The president also wished a happy New Year to the awardees. He expressed hope that the new year will be full of productive ideas and good deeds.
