Supreme Court approved guidelines for application of legislation regulating international legal assistance on criminal cases

The Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus approved, by its Resolution of 24 September 2015 No.10, the guidelines for application by the courts of the legislation of the Republic of Belarus, including treaties, regulating provision of international legal assistance on criminal cases. The Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus stated that international legal assistance on criminal cases shall be provided in accordance with treaties of the Republic of Belarus and in the instance of absence thereof – on the basis of the principle of reciprocity as established by article 2 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus of 18 May 2004 “On international legal assistance on criminal cases”.

The Resolution was officially published in Russian on the National Legal Internet Portal of the Republic of Belarus on 7 October 2015.
