Court system in Belarus to be reformed

The Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus "On improvement of the court system of the Republic of Belarus” of 29 November 2013 provides that from 1 January 2014 the Supreme Court and the Supreme Economic Court will be merged in one supreme judiciary body for civil, criminal, administrative and economic cases – the Supreme Court that will be in charge of the court system of the Republic of Belarus.
The Decree also determines the structure of the court system and the procedure for creating qualifying judicial colleges.
According to the Decree, military courts in the Republic of Belarus will be abolished from 1 July 2014.
